The Nissan Micra Legacy

Posted by on May 10, 2012 in car manufacturer | 0 comments

When it was released in 1983 the Nissan Micra took the motoring world somewhat by surprise. At the time super minis were not very popular, so producing one seemed like a bold move especially for a company like Nissan. However, it quickly became a popular car. More than 2 million of them were built in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear between 1992 and 2010 alone.

The Micra is sold across the globe. In Latin America and Asia it is badged as the Nissan March and in North America as the Nissan Versa.

The Micra has a big fan base ranging from grannies who are still driving their first generation Micras, bought 25 years ago, to boy racers. There are dozens of ways to soup up a Micra. It is cheap to do so and they are easy to work on, so a lot of people install the kits themselves.

The Future of the Nissan Micra

Whilst Nissan still make the Micra, the fourth generation is likely to be the last in the series. However, given the fact that the Nissan Micra is so durable and reliable it will be many decades before they disappear completely from our roads.

Manchester Car Hire

Posted by on Apr 19, 2012 in new cars | 0 comments

Manchester car hire services are well used. The city receives millions of visitors every single year many of whom arrive via its railway stations and airport. The airport alone deals with over 18 million people each year. A significant proportion of those visitors need to hire a car.

In addition, more and more of the city’s residents are turning to hire cars rather than bearing the cost of running their own vehicles. They are finding that it makes more economic sense to occasionally hire vehicles rather than to have to find the money to insure and maintain their own vehicles year-round.

Manchester Car Hire for Businesses

A significant percentage of Manchester’s business community are also turning to car hire companies. They too are noticing that the cost of running vehicles has soared to the point where it is no longer economically viable for them to do so. As a result, they are mothballing their company vans and cars or selling them.

Consequently, demand for Manchester car hire is strong. For consumers this is a good thing because it means that they get a good choice making it far easier for them to shop around and hire a vehicle for a fair price.

What to do When You’re Unhappy with Your Car Repair Bill

Posted by on Apr 16, 2012 in car manufacturer | 0 comments

Have you ever taken your car in for maintenance or repairs only to be given a car repair bill that was much larger than you expected?  If you are fortunate you will receive the bill before the repairs are actually carried out, however would you know what to do if you received an unsavoury bill afterwards?  Thankfully there are a few things you can do to avoid being ripped off by a car repaircompany.

Always Ask for an Estimate

You should never get a car repair done before asking for an estimate first.  If you do and you receive a high bill there will be very little that you can do about it.  When asking for an estimate make sure that you get it in writing, this way if there is a problem you have documented proof.  Keep in mind that your bill may be more than you were initially quoted however if you find that there is a 10% difference or higher you can query it further – there may have been a mistake.

Check the Price of Parts

If your car repair requires new parts to be installed it is a good idea to see how much these cost on their own.  Most car repair companies will charge a set price for the mechanics work and will then charge extra for parts.  If you believe you have been overcharged you can dispute the price with your mechanic.  Ask them why the parts cost so much and again show them what you have been quoted from another company or dealership.

Therefore, a car that was considered average until a few years ago is now a model wanted even by the pretentious buyers. The new car prices of average cars was affected by this tendency, and this is why the price of a car model might vary significantly considering the packages the client can opt for.

For example, a sedan from an European producer that has the average value of 15 000 dollars can be bought with 10 000 dollars, but the maximum version of the automobile, the version that has the most powerful engine and all the comfort and media features might cost 30 000 dollars or more. However, the majority of clients prefer to buy the models that have many options, even if they need to find some more money to get the benefit of those features.

Of course, the clients are also interested about safety and a system that guarantees total protection on the highways but also in the crowded traffic of the major cities will cost some serious money. The standard models benefit of some good features, but the models with 5 stars obtained at the NCAP tests will surely be the more expensive ones. Of course, you will also have to benefit from the electronic systems of assisting the driver.

The clients are also looking for multifunctional cars that are able to drive them perfectly in the city, on the highways, or even off road.
